STATEMENT
Connecting more deeply with myself by dissecting and reinventing my human experience is what drives me to create. Working within the textiles medium, I have an affinity for quilting and sewing. The body, specifically my own, self reflection and domesticity are my inspirations. I am able to bring life to quilted interior spaces using bold, bright colors that create otherworldly imagery. I reinvent the relationship between the natural and the unnatural world by combining unexpected color theory with hand-dyed fabric, repeating patterns that are often inspired by antique quilts, and organic forms derived from scientific images. My work is meant to toe the line between the familiar and the mysterious. I explore playful surface design and textures using beads, sequins and reflective vinyl fabric to foster an energizing and interactive viewing experience. Within my practice I create the space to more profoundly accept and understand myself.
